About

MY POSTCARDSPOSTCARDS FROM SAHIL

A little collection of places I've been and moments I've kept.

My Postcards is a personal photo journal. It collects photographs from trips, café afternoons, city streets and good meals, and keeps them the way a drawer of postcards keeps a place: a picture on the front, a few words on the back.

Kept by Sahil Bansal.

How it is organised

Every photograph is a postcard. Each part below collects them a different way.

Each postcard also has a kind: travel, city, café, food, getaway, art, random clicks.

Right now

The journal holds 134 postcards from 15 places, 2 trips, 9 cafés and 5 stories, and it is still growing. Every photograph here is mine.

A few postcards

  • A narrow dining room with a dark wooden ceiling hung with rows of brass temple bells, a carved wooden staircase on the left, an arched mural of a South Indian temple tower with palms and an elephant at the far end, and cushioned booths along a panelled wall
  • A restaurant dining room under a thick ceiling of pink blossom, with red leather booths, gold lattice screens and a lit bar at the back
  • A wide view of the Parvati river rushing over a stony bed in a green valley, with a few wooden houses on the far hillside and steep, sunlit mountains behind, framed by trees on the right
  • A thin white waterfall dropping down a dark cliff face into a spray-filled gorge, with tongues of snow and green scrub on the slopes above and bright green meadow either side of the base, where tiny figures stand
  • Lines of tattered prayer flags in blue, white, red, green and yellow crossing a bright blue sky above red-roofed cottages, an orange restaurant and a Karma Cottage & Camp, Jispa sign, with snow-topped peaks and a steep brown mountain behind
