A dip in the Narmada
26 January 2026, the river near Omkareshwar.

On the way to Omkareshwar we stopped where the road meets the Narmada at Barwaha. It is about 11 km from Omkareshwar in a straight line, and the river there is wide and flat, with low banks and a long bridge. The photographs of the whole group at the water are from about 2 pm. There was even a small fair on the bank, with a Ferris wheel.
The water
I went into the river. The video is 11 seconds long: I am standing in the water with wet hair, the far bank is a flat line of trees in the haze, and I am smiling at the camera. By the clip's own time it is 1:39 pm, a little before the photographs on the bank.
The Narmada is one of India's sacred rivers, and the temple town of Omkareshwar stands on an island in it. The group photograph on the sand is from 2:12 pm, and after the stop we went on to Omkareshwar.
